Wildheart Gourmet

Wildheart Gourmet is a game about foraging wild foods and finding our place in the natural world.

This project is currently in active development. My objective for this experience is to introduce people to the concept of foraging wild foods, highlighting invasive species and responsible habits specifically. The ecological focus is on North America because that is the area I am most comfortable teaching about. My main goals are to:

• Use the fun, engaging nature of games to promote learning
• Impart real knowledge about common wild foods and edible invasives, and encourage further study of the subject
• Raise awareness about these issues and steps consumers can take to combat them in the future
• Give people a more nuanced perspective on humans’ role as a part of delicately balanced natural systems

This game is a starting point, but not a comprehensive guide to wild food identification and preparation. I encourage the player to pursue further study in order to harvest responsibly & safely.
